Why Great Work Isn’t Enough Anymore

One of my MBA students recently said, “Your class made me squirm—but it also completely changed how I show up.”

That’s the moment I look for. The squirm.
Because that’s usually where the real truth lives.

Here’s one I’ve seen play out again and again:

The world doesn’t reward brilliance. It rewards influence.
And influence isn’t clout or noise—it’s designed trust,
the kind that moves ideas, decisions, and capital.

You can be the most talented person in the room.

But if no one sees you? If no one feels what you do?
It won’t matter.

You can be a genius in the dark.
An artist with no audience.
A leader no one’s following.

That’s the trap of invisible excellence.
And it’s where too many brilliant people stay stuck.

But it’s not failure, it’s friction.
Avoidable friction.

This week’s episode of Amanda’s Playbook is about how to move beyond it:

  • Why talent alone won’t get you chosen
  • What influence actually looks like for high-trust professionals
  • And how to build it—strategically, without theatrics.

(It’s 3 minutes. Possibly the most important 3 you’ll spend this week.)

WANT THE FULL FRAMEWORK?

I’ve put together a new guide:
“The 5 Principles of Strategic Influence.”
It’s short. Specific. And built for people already doing excellent work who want the right people to see it.

Here’s how to get it:

  1. Subscribe to my YouTube channel

  2. Comment “INFLUENCE” on this week’s video

  3. I’ll send the PDF directly to you

That’s it. No forms, no fluff.
Just signal, not noise.

Because if your work is  good… why isn’t it working?
Strategic influence is what makes it visible, valuable, and chosen.

Watch and unlock the guide.
Your excellence deserves an audience. The right one.
